This History folder stores all the history of the browsing you have done when using the Browser unless you set Chrome to delete your history, cache, etc, when closing. Google Chrome 10 - Firefox 3. But still, why three times as large as FF or Opera? Google Chrome uses up to 1GB!!! What the heck is this?? The core components of Chrome are about half of the size.
Once installation is complete, the temporary files are deleted automatically and you can manually delete the original compressed download. During normal use, Chrome and other browsers typically use a portion of your hard disk space to store permanent or temporary browsing data. Stored information can consist of user data or cached browser data. When you tell a website to remember your username or preferences, the site places a small file called a "cookie" on your computer to maintain that data.
Less scrupulous sites use them for advertising, data tracking and other purposes. You can remove them periodically using Chrome's Privacy settings, but they take up little space. Chrome also caches Web page information on your system, so it can load frequently visited pages more quickly. Those also can be cleared from your system periodically by choosing "Clear Browsing Data" from your Privacy settings. While MB is adequate for Chrome, you might conceivably require additional space if you've added capabilities to your browser through extensions, plugins and add-ons.
Due to these risks, Chrome lets users decide whether they want to keep or delete their browser data. Before you proceed with deleting, consider which components you want to get rid of and which you want to keep. Tap on the tab to open it. Chrome will then present you with a list of things you can delete.
If left unchecked, Google Chrome can slowly eat up the storage space on your iPhone.
