Can you refund pre owned games

As a result, I ended travelling to another store that always helps me with any issues without any fuss on defective product exchanges. I never abused their policy but some employees can be jerks even when you worked there when it comes to any refund or exchange while other employees are really nice about it and they help you out with any problems.

Do you also get to code if something is pre owned? Gamestop , Return Policies. COVID Response: While GameStop has not announced specifics, they did indicate that they will be providing an extended return window so shoppers have ample time to return items once all locations reopen. How to return your product under the GAME returns policy? Items purchased in store must be returned to a store. Items purchased online must be posted back to us at the address below. Who will pay the costs of return? I hope everyone complaining about their return policy reads this comment. If any of you scroll a little bit you will see the people clearly admitting that they either broke their game console and sold it to them under false pretenses, bought a game to play and beat in a week and then return it for full refund prior to new policy , or any number of other "scams" which they are trying to perpetrate.

It is because of these people that GameStop is required to have this policy. They abuse the system and con the employees. There is only so much a company can take before they start losing money and must change their policy to be a very strict one, which GameStop has clearly done. Don't blame GameStop. Blame all the scammers for causing this. I have bought 2 headsets within the last 4 days because they have both been broken straight out of the box.

The first one was a wired one and I bought the warranty on it. After purchasing within a few hours i noticed a speaker was out and I returned it to be told i should purchase the more expensive one because it's better.

He rings me up and asks me if I want the warranty that Is another 20 dollars. And yet again, I open it up and this time it doesnt even turn on. I just want my money back and so I can purchase a product elsewhere. Used it one time after charging then went to charge it again and it wouldn't charge. Went to take it back so I can just get an exchange. I was told they will not do it. I was offered to buy another one though at sale price. Bad business.

Will not be spending anymore of my money there. I think they should stop selling refurbished game consoles.. I bought a refurbished Xbox one approximately 3 months ago and now it wont work at all and they will not do anything about this.. I think GameStop is a crock and should be boycotted by all I should have just coughed up the extra cash and bought the console brand new.. I bought a Xbox One S in July of and now it's November 1st of and the console won't turn on. I can press the button and it will light up and make a noise for a few seconds and then turn off but nothing on my tv will come on.

My warranty is suppose to last till July of You think i can get a refund? I don't see why this is happening because it is in a clean ventilated area and i bought the console as brand new. It is very much appreciated if someone can either help my issue or know if i can get a refund. Seems like a lot of the people posting their comments here are simply dissatisfied with GameStop's policy, however in most cases it seems like Gamestop has clearly stated their policy and people tend to think that Gamestop should make an exception in their case because that would be "the right thing to do.

If you buy a used game you can return for a full refund within 7 days of purchase, or within 30 days for an exchange. I'm not saying it's a great policy but it is pretty clear, accept it and shop at GameStop or go somewhere else, but don't blame them for adhering to their clearly stated policy, that's like blaming the police officer for stopping you and giving you a speeding ticket. Yeah it sucks but ultimately it's your own fault.

Whenever I buy at GameStop I always buy used because I understand and accept their policy, and there have been many times where I tried a game and decided to return it within those 7 days and I've never had an issue. I just bought Black Ops 4 I wonder if I can return it for full value? I recently purchased ncaa14 for the ps3 on gamestop. What can i do to exchange for another game? I purchased a "new" XBOX 1 title..

It was new?? They put a cute lil sticker over the opening of the case.. After purchasing the game on a Friday afternoon.. I realized I didn't like the game. I was told they would only give me For the return policy.. I did find where it said.. GameStop reserves the right to refuse return on any opened or defective products. I was literally just told that if I open a brand new product and it doesn't work, they will not take it back if I did not purchase their additional "warranty".

I am pretty sure that is in direct violation of their own return policy and I should not have to pay extra money on a brand new product on the off chance it is defective out of the box. I will be buying games from other sources from now on. My experience was awful and it made my son cry out of frustration.

He had bought a Xbox card but instead of buying a gift card he bought a three month subscription. The card was not scratched off and only ten minutes had passed before we were able to make it back we love across the street. The key holder would do nothing stating the company had strict policies about card of this sort.

I call BS just plain lazy we had a receipt and all we needed was an exchange to the type that was a gift card. This is sad and I feel it is a big problem not just in game stop but In most people the idgaf attitude is disturbing.

I mean a kid saved his money went so happy to buy it then was shattered because he made a mistake. All I know is the store on 67 ave in miami florida has a terribly unmotivated person as a key holder! He worked there night shift on September 28 Shame on you for not looking up return policies as I asked you to do we had a receipt and the card wasn't scratched off!

You never bothered to look anything up!! I'm sorry, but this really has nothing to do with the return policy. You guys should really be more careful with your technology. No crap GameStop isn't going to refund a purchase when it was ruined because of you guys.

Don't get mad at the company for not accepting an Xbox 1 with cheese shoved into the disc slot. Now some of these stories I get, but just comeback a few hours later when that person leaves, don't stop shopping here. I personally have never had a bad experience, if I was misinformed they told me the truth, there were two employees that even told me not to buy something. I was young and on a tight budget Instead of shoving it into my face and taking my money they informed me about the product and helped me make a more educated choice.

So I bought a preowned xbox 1 and took it home had it for 2 days nd worked very well I was very happy. On the third day I was at work nd my 4 yo thought it would be fun to smoosh a slice of peperjack cheese into the disk slot.

I tried taking it to game stop to return it but they said Tht it was damaged nd they can't do anything bout it even tho I had the recit. I was not gamma settle for Tht so I said ok. Took it home cleaned it allitle bit nd returned it to a differnt game stop nd said Tht I had two of them nd I no longer need this one nd they returned it now questions asked.

Just be careful how u word things wen trying to return an item nd never buy new nd always keep the recite. We have stores within a minute drive of our home, and every one of them will tell you something different when you buy games about their return and exchange policy.

GameStop offers "coupons" -- like I had a buy 2, get 1 free pre-owned coupon. I went to a different store because they were the only one in my area that had the pre-owned game my daughter wanted. I even called beforehand, explained that I bought all 3 with a buy 2, get 1 coupon, and the guy told me no problem - to come on down and we could exchange it and he would "take care of us. He argued with my husband for about an hour about exchanging the game before he agreed to do it.

Then said he was going to call the original store we bought the 3 games from and tell them they were wrong. This is such a joke. We are new to gaming. My daughter is 9 years old and just got her first game system. The ridiculous crap that GameStop put us through has made it so I may never purchase another game from their company again. Kudos, GameStop, you lost a new customer. My fiance was looking for a game that he has been wanting to test to see if he would like it or not and the cheapest place that he could get it at was from GameStop.

So in order to save some money he went there. A couple days later he realized that he wasn't going to play it, and so he was just going to return it and get his money back. No point in having a game that is never going to be played after all. He went in today and the guy told him that he could not return the game There is nothing wrong with the game, it is still in its packaging and everything!

But he still couldn't return it.? He bought it September 1st, and you have 30 days to return the product Today is September 6th. Clearly in the refund policy it says that he was allowed to return the game! GameStop has lost two loyal customers today. The only thing that confused him n why he didn't realize it was the exact same is because one is called W2k17 while the other is called W2k18 he thought it was going to be a different game. Basically it's the same game just better graphics.

I went to game stop in Seymour Indiana and they would not let me return my 13 year old sons game. Yes he took the plastic off because it was new but as soon as he realized it was the same game he already had he took it out put it back in the case. It was not scratch at all. They refused to let him exchange it we didn't want money back just different game we had the receipt with it also.

So I don't understand what the issue was so now he's out 30 dollars on a game he already has. If it was not scratch I had recipt why could they not just let him exchange it. What about if a game doesn't work? I bought a used copy of "Halo Reach" but nothing would load. I tried on two different consoles, four different profiles, all of the game modes, most of the maps, I messed around with the settings, I tried single and multiplayer campaign.

This makes gamestop the money hungry establishment i originally thought it to be. I recently bought a new controller less than 30 days ago and it kept disconnecting and the dpad was stuck going right and the left analog stick is broke because my dog basically tackled me and it broke the analog stick can i still return it if i have the recipt and the box it came new in?

Don't buy from GameStop. Their return policy is garbage and left to managers or employees discretion. They also employ some of the shadiest sales techniques I've ever seen.

They higher prices before their sales just to slash them slightly below their original price so you don't actually save anything. Save yourself a headache do you business else where. It will be in their system. But obviously KEEP your receipt just in case they wanna lie and say its not there, which they will do cause. What if i bought a "new" game, played for 3 days, completed everything, still have receipt, and deleted all of it's save data can i exchange it for another game?

The game i bought was "Detective Pikachu". I really liked it. Bought a game a couple of weeks ago that I thought was interesting and didn't even play it but it had a tag that said new on the case so I went back to the store the same day to get my money back and they would not give my money back and didn't even have any rapping on it cause it was on the shelf at the store.

So I went to get a game yesterday and I didn't really like it so I thought of returning it but then realized the guy didn't give me a receipt so I was panicking because the game cost me 45 dollars so then I realized the 3 dollar insurance for the game had the date of when I bought in in a sticker on the game so I don't know if I can use that to make them believe me or if it's no exceptions.

As she shook the box she said " i know what it feel like and there is a console in here" i didnt purchase and i never will patronize that store We bought the Nintendo Switch for our 11 yr old son with Down Syndrome for his birthday. We have had the Wii for years and thought this would be a great giift for him. Well, he had a real hard time playing it so we brought it back within days of purchase.

Should have went to Target or Walmart, they would have taken it back. Now we are struck with a system that will not be used! We've had the Wii for years and thought this would be a great giift for him. What if I bought a new 3ds and it worked for a while until it decided not to turn on anymore and it's been a little more than a month ago and I had to damage the bottom plate because I couldn't unscrew the last screw so I cut around it to see if there was something inside that got disconnected or damaged but it all seemed fine and I was wondering if I can get a replacement and note that I didn't get any warranty with it because I didn't have enough money for additional costs.

Are you allowed to return downloadable content that hasn't been used yet, just the plastic that goes over it is gone because i took it off to see if the game was in there then i realize its a downloadable content.

Google and youtube always help. Look, I am reading through a lot of these comments complaining about the policy The policy states right there on the back of the receipt and is usually even verbally stated. If you want the opportunity to try a game out because your afraid you won't like it, buy the used copy.

It comes with a 7 days from original purchase whether you like it or not policy. If you buy a new game and then open it It isn't new you dolts, and thus can not be returned as such. I saw a comment where a guy complained he bought a used 3ds, but it didnt look brand new so he was upset Read what you just said. All I am saying is quite being a bunch of internet trolls and learn some respect. I attempted to purchase a PS4 and done games but once I was charged their computer went down.

Not only was I charged, I didn't get take have my items because there computer didn't produce transaction. I've been dealing with this issue for two weeks now and do I get from the game stop location is that they have an email about it.

No wonder why they are going out of business. I buy a pre owned 3dsxl it does not look brand new it is damage still what should I do take it back in get my refund or tell them I need another one or should I take it back to GameStop in Emeryville.

I would just like to know what is the exact policy about defective products. I read some stores refuse you or force you to buy a warranty or even try to get you to pay full price for a faulty item replacement.

I had some faulty systems that were purchased and I want to make sure if they are defective that I can exchange the system at any GameStop store. Each store shouldn't have it's own policy when it clearly states that any defective product can be exchanged within 30 days. It doesn't mention a limit on exchanges of what can be exchanged. I called different stores and they all claim something different and one claimed I had to buy a warranty first to get an exchange.

I don't understand how the policy can be used so loosely. I can understand that they want to protect the stores from abuse but it is not a customer fault when a product is faulty and defective. I shouldn't have to travel to different stores to get an exchange on a defective product. I brought a game Saturday and tried to return it Sunday but they where closed. The return policy for GameStop is horrible they should atleast throw in a day grace period for after you buy a game you can get your full refund back.

Just bought a game less than 24 hours ago and they refused to refund for full price or exchange it because the plastic around the game wasn't with it. The clerk only offered me the buy back price which is less than half of what I just paid.

GameStop is the official used car salesman of video games. I bought a new ps4 slim last year never really played online stuff untill recently because I never had psn plus, if I had gotten psn plus sooner I would've found out that gamestop sold me a used ps4 but marked it as used and they are denying it.

It's odd how the hdd drive which I've only taken out once since owning ps4 has deep screw scratches in plate hold hdd in place among other things like my ps4 cereal number not registered so the only way I could verify I owned the ps4 was by providing my card number to Sony as proof I bought a game.

Gamestop is nothing but a lying crooked thief. Is a question not a comment for anyone who knows the answer. Can I still return it for the correct disc without a warranty? I just had a terrible experience at your store in hot springs, AR. I bout a new game 5 days ago and it was far from what I was expecting. I went to return it and they said the best I could get was a trade for 35 bucks less then I paid 5 days ago.

This is a bad business practice. Hi I brought a headset from your shop November last year and it is broken it says on the box 12 months guarantee. I don't have the receipt. Can I return it. Can I return a used game in Less than a week, never played and get my money back?

I used a 20 percent off coupon to buy a preowned Switch game. I hate the game. Can I exchange it for a different Switch game that is originally the same price?

Even though I had used a coupon? It's ridiculous. I bought a brand new PS4 game, it didn't work because something was wrong with it. I brought it back in the time frame it was suppose to be in along with the correct receipt. Cause apparently a I will Never buy or shop from GameStop again!! Horrible customer service. Ripoff prices and terrible return policy! Two thumbs down!! I know gamestop has to have strict policies, from people who try to rip them off.

But their return policy is a joke! All I can say is, when you make a purchase through hardtop, make sure the item is what you want. Because if not, you could be out of a lot of money. You're store return policy is a joke. I bought a sd SanDisk card for my Sega handheld. It came with an adaptor. Unfortunately, these are picky with ad cards. I asked the employee who seemed to know a great deal on these and said it would guarantee to work.

I asked him about the return policy and he told me as long as I have my receipt. It did not work and not even a week later, I went to return it with my receipt and the employee gave me a line of crap that they do not accept opened items, after I had asked what their return policy was when I bought it. Now I'm out 40 bucks, not very much, but I have no use for this sd card and I was lied to.

This is the last time I shop there for anything You guys are thieves. Had my first experience trying to help my son return a game consul to the Folsom Broadstone Game stop. Jeremiah is the manager, what a scam. Just saying, buy from the big boys, save the headache.

I'm an attorney and old enough to know how to shop wisely, trying to teach my son the same. I hate this I accidentally purchased the wrong game for the wrong game system and they said they can't exchange it the game for the PS4 version if the package wasn't open. They told to go to my local game stop to get a refund. Hi, I made a purchase for the site, a Wiithat came with two games, batman and mario, but when I opened it I saw that it is missing one, the batman game just came to the cover, I already sent an email with photos but nobody me replied, would you like to know what happened?

I hate this return policy, I want my money back for a ps3 I bought, and it doesn't work now but I can't get a refund because it's past 30 days. I would like to return a headset but I don't have the receipt but I have evrything els can I still return or exchange it's frome last Xmas pleas respond sorry for the inconvenience. What is wrong with parents nowadays, does no one teach responsibility anymore?

All I see is a bunch of people who opened new products and didn't like them, threw out the receipt before the 7 day window expired or threw out a box in the same window. Didn't your parents teach you better than that?

When a return policy says you need a receipt and the initial packaging hold on to it until the return policy expires, its not rocket science its in the return policy. And play a game console in the store before you buy a new one if you think you might not like it. If you open a brand new product and dont like it that is the game companies fault, dont expect the store to take the hit for a brand new product becoming used once you open it and use it.

With all the youtube videos and online reviews nowadays there is no excuse for paying hundreds of dollars for a system you dont like. When it comes to games buy a used copy if you think you might need to return it bc you might not like it, they will do that bc it doesn't cost them anything when you return it, unlike buying a new game and returning it slightly used.

And lady with the son who turned in there system for 12 bucks, your son is lying and either pocketed or spent all the money, be a good parent, get to the bottom of it and teach him a lesson, dont take it out on gamestop. I bought a Nintendo switch played for 3 days didn't like it and have receipt and they won't let me exchange for a differnt consol or store credit what aholes i paid more then on the purchase and wasnt satisfied.

Bought a xbox refurbished GB and found out that its not backwards compatibile Have controller with L analog stick that isn't responsive when pressed in, had it for a while, can I trade it in for another one or do I have to buy another controller? So I bought advanced warfare and it was scratched so I have to return it to the same store or can it be another store?

Bought a game for my son. He played once and didn't like it. I told him to return it for a different game. Same paged items and not damaged. He was refused because they said it wasn't in it wrapper still.

Doesn't make sense to have a 30 day return policy with receipt yet don't take it back. Anyone ha e guidance on this? I work at GameStop and have a extremely hard time seeing us buying a console from a 12 year old.. Your son was lying because we only accept items with a valid driver's license Better look farther into that ma'am Can u use the money that was refunded back to u to buy a different game?

If you got a gamestop gift card and buy a game can you bring it back the next day and get cash money. So, does GameStop straight up give you their money back for console returns? A local gamestore in my area at least for used items lets you return things in exchange for a gift card to their store alone with as much money on it as the item you returned. My friend got me a game for my birthday from GameStop, but when I returned it, the same thing happened.

Are all of you so-called gamers illiterate or merely stupid? The vast majority of posts on this page have little to do with what one experienced while returning an item to GameStop. You do realize that this website is not affiliated with GameStop, don't you? Musings about whether or not GameStop will accept your return are not helpful to the users of this site. You are contributing nothing new. Please report the details of your return experience at GameStop. That sucks.

Your notion that someone should have called you before purchasing the system from your son is embarrassingly naive, however. With shallow genetic soil like that, it is no surprise your son was taken so easily. The majority of people on here are griping about policies clearly stated on their receipts, all because they expect special treatment. Okay, so I've been saving up for a xbox one since I started my job, so I bought one that was pre-owned, to save money.

I start it up and go to put an adaptable xbox game in, and guess what, the slot where the disk goes in was covered slightly by the casing of the xbox one I flip it over to see that it's broken. I hope they'll replace it, otherwise they're loosing money.

I bought gta v yesterday and it was defective , i returned it and got another copy of it and it was also defective , can I still return it and get a refund?

If it hasn't been 15 days yet and you have the receipt will they give u ur money back. I bought a game and it was broken I did not brake it anyway I was wondering what f I can return the game without a receipt.

I bought a ps3 a couple moths ago and a month after I got it it started to glitch up and randomly shut down and it would go crazy and the screen would turn different colors. Any products returned to GameStop. Please do not mail us product s that do not meet the return criteria listed above, as we do not issue refunds for non-qualifying items and cannot return the items to you. GameStop return policy allows you a period within thirty days of a new purchase, including a receipt, and you have a seven day period to receive a full refund including your game consoles and with pre-owned items.
